Charismatic Prayer Group
Charisms are gifts or graces given by God to persons for the good of others and the Church. One of the results of Vatican II was that the charisms of the Holy Spirit should play a more important role in Christian life. From this began a movement called the Catholic Charismatic Renewal that has become more and more universally accepted.
The Acts of the Apostles tells us in (2:42-47):" The early Christians formed communities so united that all felt as one." So it is with those brothers and sisters who come together in the Spirit. In their weekly meetings, prayer groups offer such an opportunity through spontaneous prayer, songs and hymns, scripture readings and manifestations of the Spirit's gifts, all centered on praise of the Lord Jesus Christ. Emphasis is on an open and free atmosphere where everyone can contribute with their special gifts and with their prayers, motivated by faith and love.
